I am a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at SoundHound, where I work with NLP in the Language Modeling Research team.
Previously, I was a Postdoc Researcher in the Machine Learning group of Prof. Ulf Brefeld at Leuphana University Lüneburg, Germany. When I was researching about Representation Learning of Football tracking data.
For more than seven years, I was a Professor of Computer Science at UFMS, Brazil. During this time, I was teaching graduate and undergraduate courses (algorithms, data structures, machine learning), researching on NLP, and leading R&D projects with external partners. I was also a member of the Laboratório de Inteligência Artificial (LIA).
Additionally, I was a lecturer at IFG, Brazil, where some colleagues and I founded the first research and development lab at this institution.
I hold a PhD on ML and NLP from PUC-Rio, Brazil.
Research
My main research interests are on ML for Natural Language Processing (NLP) problems. I have invented and developed state-of-the-art models for different NLP problems, like dependency parsing, coreference resolution, named entity recognition, event extraction, question answering, among others.
